From July 21 – July 27, the Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 124 adults and 40 children following 41 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)
Last Week in Review

• On Sunday, ABC7, News12, Daily Voice, Mid-Hudson News, Patch, Lohud, and Monsey Scoop reported on the #MNYNRedCross assisting displaced residents after a fire in Nyack in Rockland County.
• Last Wednesday, the Red Cross met with Assemblyman Micah Lasher to discuss how to enhance emergency preparedness in his Manhattan district.
• The Norwood News reported on the Red Cross assisting three adults and one child with emergency assistance after a fire in the Norwood section of the Bronx last week.
• The Queens Chronicle reported on the Red Cross providing temporary lodging to two adults after a fire in Cambria Heights, Queens last week. 
• Our wonderful partners, Hudson Valley Paws for a Cause, shared information about service dogs with National Guardsmen and Reservists at the DOD Yellow Ribbon Event at the Marriott Hotel in Tarrytown, NY.
• We posted a viral video of how Ryan pulled #Aura points by donating blood.
• On June 27th, the Red Cross highlighted its efforts in assisting 6 displaced residents after a fire in the Highbridge section of the Bronx.

Upcoming Events and Opportunities

• We’re Hiring: The Red Cross is looking for a qualified Maintenance Tech III to support building management for each of our Greater New York Sites. We are considering both external and internal applicants.

• Jul 28 – Aug 1: The Red Cross, in collaboration with State Senator Bill Weber, is hosting a Five Towns Blood Drive challenge in Rockland County.
• Jul 31: Greenwich Battle of the Clubs blood drive will be held in the Greenwich Town Hall Meeting Room.
