In Case You Missed It

The Red Cross Home Fire Team installed 222 free residential smoke alarms throughout the Bronx. 

From July 14 – 20, the Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 94 adults and 30 children following 42 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below).

Last Week in Review

• Over the weekend, we installed 222 free smoke alarms in 69 homes, helping protect 243 of our neighbors in the Bronx.
• On Saturday, News12 reported on the Red Cross providing emergency assistance to two families following a fire in Flatbush, Brooklyn.
• Last Friday, the #LIRedCross provided water to bikers at the Wounded Warrior Project’s 18th Annual Soldier Ride in Babylon, NY.
• Last Thursday, the Red Cross partnered with Assemblymember Steven Raga and the FDNY to install smoke alarms throughout Queens.
• Through the week, the Red Cross provided information on how to combat extreme summer heat.

Upcoming Events and Opportunities

• We’re Hiring: The Red Cross is looking for a qualified Maintenance Tech III to support building management for each of our Greater New York Sites. We are considering both external and internal applicants.

• Jul 28 – Aug 1: The Red Cross, in collaboration with State Senator Bill Weber, is hosting a Blood Drive challenge in Rockland County.
• Jul 31: Greenwich Battle of the Clubs blood drive will be held in the Greenwich Town Hall Meeting Room.
