10-minute-long documentary, 9/11: Responding to America's Tragedy. 

From Sept 7-13, the Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 79 adults and 24 children following 35 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)

• For the 25th anniversary of September 11, we are reflecting on the many ways that day shaped our lives, our communities and our commitment to service through the stories of the following volunteers and staff:

• As part of the “We Were There” series, we held a panel discussion on how the tragedy of September 11th was a pivotal moment for positive change through service and leadership.
• We posted this 10-minute-long documentary, 9/11: Responding to America's Tragedy, filmed just days and weeks after 9/11, as a tribute to the more than 57,000 team members who provided critical disaster relief like food and water for emergency workers, financial assistance for families, and mental health support to those affected.
• Last Saturday, News12 reported on the Red Cross helping 4 families after a fire on West Burda Pl in New City (Rockland County).
• For #BloodCollectorsWeek, we celebrated the compassion and commitment of professional blood collectors in our region, who help support a positive experience for our local donors and ensure blood is available to patients in need everywhere.
• Our Government Liaison team met with Assemblyman Sam Berger and Councilmember Shanel Thomas-Henry to help foster collaboration on making our communities safer and more resilient from disasters.
• Joe, Viv, Joann, Adrian and Paul checked in from Ohio, where they are deployed to support communities affected by recent storms and floods.
• Our team had loads of fun during Council member Sandra Ung's UNG-believable Back to School Block Party in Queens.
