In Case You Missed It

Three heroic individuals were presented with the Red Cross Lifesaving Award
for saving a life during Mets opening day at Citi Field.

From Oct 26-Nov 1, the Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 154 adults and 47 children following 52 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)

Last Week in Review

• Congrats to our Team Red Cross runners like MJ McKee, Daryl Kennedy, François Rousselet and Lindsey Jerome who took on the TCS NYC Marathon to benefit the lifesaving mission of the Red Cross.
• Did you remember to check your smoke alarms as you turned back your clocks for Daylight Savings?
• The #LIHeroes Celebration is over, but the event got rave reviews from Jaime Quent, Grant Newburger, Stacey Sweet and Chris Wyllie. The LI Herald also featured Humanitarian honoree Harvey Weisenberg and Newsday featured Youth Hero Finn Schiavone.
• The Bronx Daily reported that we teamed up with ACS to share these Halloween Safety Tips.
• Last week, we presented Certificates of Extraordinary Personal Action to three individuals whose quick thinking and teamwork helped save the life of a baseball fan who collapsed in the stands on Opening Day for the New York Mets.
• The #MetroNYNRedCross participated in the Greenwich Community Organization Fair at the Greenwich Library.
• Last Wednesday, QNS reported on the Red Cross helping 4 families after a fire on 115th in South Richmond Hill (Queens).
• Hoodline and News12 reported on the Red Cross helping 6 adults and 1 child after a fire on Swinton Ave in Throggs Neck (Bronx).
