From Oct 13-19, the Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 116 adults and 40 children following 37 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)

Last Week in Review
  • News12 reported on the Red Cross helping 10 residents after a fire on Starling Avenue in the Parkchester neighborhood of the Bronx on Sunday.
  • On Sunday, our SAF team was out sharing information about our Restoring Family Links program at the Pal-O-Mine Vet Fest.
  • Also on Sunday, News12 reported on the Red Cross helping residents after a fire on Terrace Avenue in Hempstead (Nassau County).
  • Last Friday, Newsday reported on the Red Cross assisting 4 families after a fire on Morrell Street in Hempstead (Nassau County).
  • Last week, we were honored to host a distinguished delegation from Chiayi County, Taiwan, to deepen understanding of our work around post-disaster recovery, mental and emotional well-being support for affected communities.
  • Last Thursday, QNS reported on the Red Cross helping a family after a fire on College Point Blvd. in Flushing, Queens.
