From Mar 30-Apr 5, the Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 206 adults and 64 children following 79 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)

Last Week in Review

• On Saturday, News12, PIX11 and Hoodline, reported on the Red Cross helping a family after a car crashed into an apartment building in Sheepshead Bay (Brooklyn).
• We posted an inspirational profile on Red Cross volunteer, DJ Seawell, a 12-year Air Force veteran, whose service has always been more than a commitment — it is a calling.
• Video Reel: Aidan was scared to donate blood at first, but this helped him overcome his fear.
• We shared this video short highlighting how the Red Cross helped 23 adults and 7 children after a fire on Davidson Ave in Morris Heights (Bronx).
• Council Member Shekar Krishnan and Assemblyman Patrick Carroll teamed up with the Red Cross to record Home Fire Safety Campaign PSAs to help #EndHomeFires in their districts.
• News12 and Brooklyn Paper, reported on the Red Cross helping families with emergency housing a fire on Lott Ave in Brownsville (Brooklyn).
• In the early morning hours on April 1, our Long Island Disaster Action Team responded to a devastating house fire in Northport.
• Brooklyn Paper also reported on the Red Cross helping families after a fire on Brooklyn Ave in Flatbush (Brooklyn).
• The Kathonah Lewisboro Times featured postal worker Chris Perez for being honored by American Red Cross and the National Association of Letter Carriers for his heroic actions in saving a man’s life.
