From Apr 13-19, the Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 195 adults and 26 children following 43 local disasters. Here are some highlights from last week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)

Last Week in Review

• On Saturday, a Brentwood family received help from the Red Cross after a devastating fire.
• Also on Saturday, the Red Cross helped 10 people displaced after a wall collapsed in Fort Greene (Brooklyn).
• VIDEO REEL: First-time blood donor, Kally, had some challenges before giving, but she persevered because she knows donating is quick, easy and she could save someone's life.
• In her latest column in the Greenwich Sentinel, our MNYN CEO Stephanie Dunn Ashley, encourages all to volunteer in their community.
• Huge gratitude to Norma, Lallita and all the Greater New York team members who have deployed to support the American Red Cross response to Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
• On Monday, the #LIRedCross continued to respond to a fire in Deer Park (Suffolk) – with some residents being impacted for the second time in three years.

• April is National Volunteer Month, and we're celebrating the kindness of blood & platelet donors and those who volunteer their time. There is no substitute for blood — volunteer donors are essential to patient care. Roll up your sleeve & give more life.
• The 2026 Ruby Red & White Ball Silent Auction is officially OPEN. Your bids help power the Red Cross mission — from disaster relief to support for military families.
• Apr 25: For the 40th anniversary of the Red and White Ball, we will celebrate inspiring individuals and organizations like Admiral Lisa M. Franchetti, Giovanna Miller and the Crabtree Motor Group and the Crabtree Family.
• May 2: We’re teaming up with volunteers and partners to install FREE smoke alarms and help keep families safe. Join us in Yonkers for Sound the Alarm!
