From Feb. 27-Mar. 4, the American Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 169 adults and 36 children following 38 local disaster responses. Here are some highlights from the past week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)

Last Week in Review

• March is Red Cross Month! Thank you to Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo and to our volunteers, Board and community members who helped to celebrate our first flag raising of the month at Greenwich Town Hall.
• Special thanks to Senator Gustavo Rivera for honoring three of our amazing volunteers on the NYS Senate Floor for Red Cross Month!
• News12 reported on the Red Cross responding to a fire on East Gun Hill Road in the Norwood section of the Bronx, where 1 family received financial assistance and emergency housing and another family received financial assistance.
• Last Sunday, Newsday reported on the #LIRedCross responding to a fire on West Main Street in Riverhead (Suffolk County) where 8 families received financial assistance.
• Over the weekend, the #LIRedCross participated in a Community Resource Day in Brentwood.
• News12, ABC7, PIX11, Norwood News, CBS2, and NBC4 reported on the Red Cross assisting 15 residents after a fatal fire on Grand Avenue in the University Heights section of the Bronx.
• News12, Mid Hudson News, Rockland News, and LoHud reported on the #MetroNYNRedCross opening a reception center and shelter at the Louis Kurtz Civic Center to assist residents after a fire on Union Road in Spring Valley (Rockland County).
• To close out Black History Month, we shared this video highlighting the artwork of Henry Ossawa Tanner.
• News12 interviewed Metro NY North CEO Stephanie Dunn Ashley about a fundraiser with celebrity chef David Burke and how Red Cross services are needed more now than ever.
