Red Cross Responders assist residents after a fire in the Marble Hill section of the Bronx.
From Mar. 12-18, the American Red Cross in Greater New York provided emergency assistance to 185 adults and 30 children following 31 local disaster responses. Here are some highlights from the past week and a preview of upcoming activities. (See below)

  • Disasters harm families. Volunteers are needed to help comfort and support people who are forced from their homes due to fires, storms, and other emergencies, so they don’t have to face tough times alone. Join the American Red Cross Disaster Team!
  • Mar 21: Join this Women's History Month celebration during Share the Red spotlighting Women Red Crossers who have over 20+ years of dedication to service and the ARC mission.
  • Mar 23: Join us for a National Sound the Alarm event in Peekskill, NY to help educate people about fire safety and install free smoke alarms. No prior experience necessary, training provided. Register here.
  • Apr 4-7: Save the date for our Disaster Ready Summit, which will be held at our GNY HQ in Manhattan and will feature courses such as Civilian Critical Casualty Care, Naloxone, We Were There, and Active Shooter Training. Contact GNY.DWE@redcross.org with questions.
